3. val - October 19, 2007

hi i am 38 weeks pregnant i was 2cm yesterday and 3cm today the doctor says i should walk. if i do walk will it help me out a great deal? oh this is my fifth baby and we are ready!

Dear Val, walking during pregnancy is very beneficial, especially in the end to help labor start. Labor could start in the next couple days, but it also could still be a few weeks away. ~Guinever

4. Olabisi - November 12, 2007

hi am olabisi, i had my second baby June 2006 through c-section because the cervix refused to open not even one centimeter. I’ve missed my period this November 1st to be precise. There is no doubt about it that am pregnant. Please, what caused it that the cervix refused to dialate and kindly advise me.

Dear Olabisi, I need more details in order to venture as to why your cervix didn’t dilate, but without knowing any details, the simple answer is that your cervix just wasn’t ready for birth yet. Did you dilate ok for your first birth? Before having your c-section, did you start labor? If yes, how long did you experience contractions and how long, strong and far apart were they? If you did not start labor on your own, were you induced? If yes, what was used for the induction and how much time was given? If your cervix wasn’t soft and dilated at all, pitocin wouldn’t have worked. ~Guinever
